Production by Ellesmere Port Musical Theatre Company

Three years of new movie-musicals ahead

20th July 2015

EPMTC, recently announced its programme for the next three years which they are certain will prove a hit with audiences. Their flagship, September, productions for 2015, 2016 and 2017 are to be Sister Act, Legally Blonde and 9-5 respectively.

Sister Act the musical is currently in rehearsal for this September and interest from the public and local groups has been such that a matinee performance on Saturday 19th September has now been added to their run of performances at the New Brighton Floral Pavilion.

Sister Act is the "feel-amazing" musical comedy based on the 1992 Whoopi Goldberg movie. It tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder and the Philadelphia police hide her in the last place anyone would think to look—a convent! Rehearsals are bouncing along as the cast dance to the fantastic music by Tony® and 8-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken, famed for writing the music behind some of Disney's most popular musical films including Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

EPMTC's production of Legally Blonde the musical follows its recent Broadway and West End success. It is based on the 2001 novel by Amanda Brown and the subsequent MGM film of the same name, which famously starred Reece Witherspoon in the leading role with North West actress Carly Stenson picking up the baton for the London production of the musical. Legally Blonde follows the story of sorority president Elle Woods as she crosses the country on a mission to find love at Harvard Law School.

Based on the 1980 film, 9 TO 5: The musical is an uproarious tale of what happens when you team up to take care of business. With a Tony® Award and Grammy®-nominated score by the legendary Dolly Parton our audiences will be tapping their toes the whole way home. It may be a man’s world, but that won’t stop three girlfriends from conspiring their way to the top in this hilarious tale of friendship and revenge.

Aside from the main productions, EPMTC will continue to present a variety of plays and concerts throughout the Wirral beginning with the Christmas comedy by Mike Harding, Comfort and Joy at Heswall Hall this December.

Sister Act runs 17 - 19 September at the Floral Pavilion. Tickets are available from the box office on 01516660000 or at floralpavilion.com. Discounts are available for group bookings.
